Folklore Haunted House
Folklore Haunted House in Acworth, Georgia, is a premier haunted attraction known for its high-quality production, immersive storytelling, and intense scares. This haunted house features multiple themed attractions, each designed to provide a unique and terrifying experience.
The main attractions for the 2024 season include:
- The Manor: Enter the haunted mansion of the Winters family and face the horrors that lurk within.
- The Asylum: Navigate through an abandoned asylum filled with deranged patients and eerie doctors.
- The Maze: A labyrinthine journey through a nightmarish world filled with monsters and madmen.
- Midway of Mayhem: Test your skills in horror-themed carnival games and win prizes (game tickets must be purchased separately).
- Coffin Simulator Ride: Experience the claustrophobic confines of a coffin in one of two chilling scenarios: The Last Ride or Vlad’s Revenge.
- Eerie Essentials: A shop offering a collection of chilling keepsakes and haunting memorabilia.
- Live Actors: Skilled actors stay in character throughout the experience, enhancing the realism and fear factor.
- Special Effects: High-quality special effects, including strobe lights, fog, and atmospheric sounds, create an immersive experience.
- Food and Beverages: Seasonal treats and refreshments are available on-site.
On the whole, we’ve heard great things about Folklore. However, a few guests shared that the Coffin Simulator fell flat. I couldn’t do it. There’s a reason we have a list of costumes ideal for folks with Claustrophobia.
Personally, I love the Midway of Mayhem, which also got mixed reviews. A good carny reminds me of the old Big E – Eastern States Exposition I went to growing up.

There is so much to do. I have to say I am a sucker for a scenic railroad. Going back to my younger days, I just loved taking a train ride. That all changed after sitting on an Amtrak between San Diego and Los Angeles and having to switch trains to finish the trip. Ugh. But the scenic railroads are still my jam.

I love a good aquarium. I remember seeing puffins for the first time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium out in California. I was already hooked, having watched a rock hopper Penguin freak out at the Boston Aquarium. We all took a field trip to Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut when I was in middle school. It’s science and nature and things you just don’t see everyday
The Georgia Aquarium does a great job melding their sea life attractions with Halloween. Even more impressive, unlike Boston, Mystic and Monterey, Atlanta is a good distance from the Ocean.
Ticket Prices
- General Admission: Prices start at $39.95 (prices may vary based on date and time)
- Member Admission: Discounted rates for aquarium members
- Group Discounts: Available for groups of 25 or more

Of this collection, I have to say the Botanical Gardens is more suited to families. As is the parade though Little 5 Points. But the I have two from this group of Atlanta Halloween events that I cannot wait to check out. The paranormal convention and the cemetery tour are different and creepy in their own way.
Tips to Enjoy Our Favorite Atlanta Halloween Events
- Buy Tickets in Advance: Many of these events are popular attractions, and tickets can sell out, especially on weekends and closer to Halloween. Purchasing tickets online in advance is highly recommended to guarantee entry and save time.
- Consider a VIP or Elite Ticket: When events have a fastpass like option, it’s a great way to avoid long wait times. These options allow you to bypass the regular lines and get into the haunted house faster, giving you more time to enjoy the experience.
- Arrive Early: To make the most of your visit, arrive early. This helps with parking and gives you more time to explore the attractions and additional experiences.
- Dress Comfortably: Many of these events are outdoors, so dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for walking. Likewise, for indoor events, be prepared for the crowds in dark cramped spaces. Layers you can remove to stay cool will help.
- Check the Weather: While some attractions are indoors, others are outdoors. Be sure to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. October nights in Atlanta can be chilly, but the afternoons are pretty close to perfect. Plan ahead and bundle up for any outdoor activities on those chilly nights.
- Follow Safety Guidelines: For your safety and the safety of others, follow all posted rules and guidelines. This includes not touching the actors or props and staying within designated areas.
- Take Advantage of Live Entertainment and On-site food options: Many of these events offer live entertainment outside of the main venue. Some have food trucks or dining options. On long evenings, those can help you pace yourself, or find a second wind to keep the night going.
- Have fun: Halloween is about having fun and enjoying a good scare. If you think an event is going to push your limits too far, skip and find another.
